Lady Chiefs unable to hold lead vs. Braves

Bellefontaine took an early lead, but could not stay in front Wednesday as visiting Springfield Shawnee rallied for an 8-4 victory in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game.

The Chiefs drop to 6-8 overall and 3-6 in the CBC. Shawnee improves to 4-7, 2-7.

Bellefontaine plated three runs in the first inning and added another in the second frame to lead 4-0.

But Shawnee came back with two runs in the third and five in the fourth to take a 6-4 lead.

The Braves tacked on two more runs in the seventh.

Rianna Fullerton went 3-4 to lead BHS at the plate. Kassi Prine was 2-3 with a double and Arianna Young went 2-3.

Bellefontaine plays at Indian Lake on Friday.

Lakers stay hot

Indian Lake’s softball team continued its stellar play Wednesday with a 12-3 victory over visiting Graham in Central Buckeye Conference action.

The Lakers are now 14-1 overall and 8-3 in the CBC. Graham drops to 3-9, 1-8.

Indian Lake led 7-1 after three innings and added two runs in the fourth to lead 9-1.

Graham scored twice in the top of the sixth, but the Lakers responded with three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 12-3 lead.

Mackenzie Dixon went 4-5 with three RBI and Haylee Edwards went 3-4 with a double and two RBI to fuel the IL batting attack.

Also for the Lakers, Madison Brentlinger went 2-3 with a triple and two RBI and Hannah Marlow went 2-4 with a double and three RBI.

Brentlinger went six innings in the pitching circle to get the win. She allowed one earned run on six hits while striking out one and walking two.

The Lakers are back in action Friday at home against Bellefontaine.

Raiders bounce Warriors

Benjamin Logan’s softball team, which sits just one game behind Indian Lake in the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division standings, dumped visiting Northwestern 13-1 on Wednesday.

The Raiders improve to 10-2 overall and 7-2 in the CBC. The Warriors fall to 3-8, 2-7.

Ben Logan scored three runs in the first inning and plated four more runs in the second to grab an early 7-0 lead.

The Raiders didn’t let up. They scored once in the third to make it 8-0, and after Northwestern tallied its lone run in the top of the fourth, Ben Logan answered with five runs in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away.

Kyah Moore allowed just one hit and struck out seven in the circle for the Raiders.

Ben Logan pounded out 17 hits.

Jillian Plikerd was 4-4 with a triple and two RBI to pace the BL offense.

Elliott Bailey was 2-2 with a double, Rhea Harner went 2-3 with a triple, Moore went 2-4 with an RBI, Brooks Myers went 2-4, Rylan Norviel went 2-4, Kenzee Roseburrough went 2-3 with a home run and five RBI and Libby Siefring added a double for the Raiders.

Ben Logan is back on the field Friday at home against Springfield Shawnee.
