Lady Lakers win Milton-Union tri-meet

Indian Lake’s girls track and field squad took first in a tri-meet at Milton-Union on Tuesday.

The Lakers had 73 points, the host Bulldogs were second with 69 points and Vandalia-Butler was third with 28 points.

Placing first for the IL girls were Elayna Richardson in the 100 (12.7) and 200 (26.2), Stephanie Altstaetter in the shot put (34-2), Meadow McCullough in the high jump (4-8), KaiLea Miller in the 1,600 (6:07), Reece Martin in the 300 hurdles (50.1) and the 3,200 0 relay team of Miller, Hannah Metzger, Maggie Reese and Makayla Motter (13:17).

Placing second for the Lakers were Martin in the 100 hurdles (16.5), Altstaetter in the discus (95-8), Grace Pequignot in the shot put (32-2), Hannah Metzger in the 1,600 (6:33), Miller in the 800 (2:50), Motter in the 3,200 (16:17), the 800 relay team of Regan Ross, McCullough, Gillian Taylor and Ashlyn Biederman (2:04), the 400 relay team of Pequignot, Ross, Maria Pineda-Box and McCullough (1:00) and the 1,600 relay team of Martin, Richardson, Biederman and Miller (4:29).

Adding third-place efforts for the Lady Lakers were Reese in the 3,200 (17:33), Ross in the discus (88-3) and shot put (27-11.75) and and Marah Reames in the high jump (4-6).

Indian Lake boys team finished third with 33 points. Butler won with 71 points and Milton-Union was second with 65 points.

“We split the team and went to two different meets,” said IL head coach Justin Metzger.

“It was great to see the athletes complete well in their respective events.”

Leading the IL boys was Grant McPherson, who won the 1,600 (5:03).

Placing second for the Lakers were Brant Parsell in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles (43.2), Brody Parsell in the pole vault (10-0), Stephens Spofford in the shot put (32-6.5) and the 1,600 relay team of Tony Cummins, Grant McPherson, Brant Parsell and Brody Parsell (3:50).

Contributing third-place finishes for IL were Ryan Culp in the pole vault (9-6), Charles Sickles-Sposa in the discus (96-5), Logan Duncan in the shot put (32-4) and the 800 relay team of Caiden Gauntt, Cameron Freyhof, Jacob Freyhof and Ryan Culp (1:42).

Tigers sweep home meet

West Liberty-Salem’s boys and girls track and field teams won a five-team home meet with other Ohio Heritage Conference members Tuesday.

The WL-S girls rolled up 183 points to easily take the top spot. Mechanicsburg was second with 99, Triad took third with 56, Northeastern was fourth with 28 and West Jefferson was fifth with 11.

Individual wins for the Lady Tigers came from Lena Kauffman in the pole vaullt (8-6), Lyndee Harrison in the shot put (31-03.5), Isabella Hardwick in the discus (96-06), Chloe Griffith in the 100 (13.93), Claire Longshore in the 300 hurdles (50.63) and Malia Miller in the 3,200 (12:50.62).

Getting relay wins for the Tigers were the 3,200 relay of Miller, Ashley Yoder, Teagan Boyd and Breece Gullett (10:46.85), the 800 relay of Sophia Hardwick, Gwen McCullough, Claire Longshore and Mallory Bostick (1:53.87), the 400 relay of Tori Douthwaite, Elise Longshore, Chloe Griffith and Gwen McCullough (54.38) and the 1,600 relay of Claire Longshore, Gwen McCullough, Breece Gullett and Mallory Bostick (4:24.49).

Placing second for WL-S were Elise Longshore in the pole vault (8-0), Kenzie Bahan in the shot put (30-08), Sophia Hardwick in the discus (90-04) and 100 hurdles (17.53), Anna Knox in the high jump (4-06), Ashley Yoder in the 800 (2:34.01) and Teagan Boyd in the 3,200 (13:43.71).

Contributing third-place finishes for the Tigers were Claire Longshore 100 hurdles (18.58), Tori Douthwaite in the 100 dash (14.21), Mallory Bostick in the 800 (2:35.89), Chloe Griffith in the 200 (29.46), Anna Knox in the long jump (13-10.5), Malia Miller in the 1,600 meter run (5:56.26), Breece Gullett in the 400 (1:07.46) and the 400 B relay team of Lexi Hausler, Lena Kauffman, Bexley Wilcoxon, and Douthwaite (56.53).

Adding fourth-place finishes were Douthwaite in the pole vault (7-06), Isabella Hardwick in the shot put (30-01), Lyndee Harrison in the discus (84-08), Griffith in the long jump (13-08), Douthwaite in the 200 (29.56) and Anna Knox in the 400 (1:10.46).

WL-Salem’s boys team won with 138.5 points. Mechanicsburg was second with 105.5, Northeastern took third with 56.5, Triad finished fourth with 37 and West Jefferson was fifth with 35.5.

Winning events for the Tigers were Logan Phillips in the 110 hurdles (16.28), Owen Harrison in the 800 (2:08.02), Jackson Steider in the long jump (19-0.5), Mark Bair in the shot put (42-11), Slayde Merriman in the pole vault (11-0), the 400 relay team of Gabe McGill, Jack Bahan, Jackson Steider and Logan Phillips (45.17) and the 1,600 relay team of Phillips, Gabe McGill, Jake Lauck and Dylan King (3:47.39).

Finishing in second for WL-S were Steider in the 110 hurdles (16.53), Quentin Rudolph in the 1,600 (4:41.79), Asher Knox in the 800 (2:08.74), Joey LaRoche in the 3,200 (10:29), Mark Bair in the discus (140-7), Craig Stanford in the pole vault (9-6), Taran Logwood in the long jump (18-0.5) and the 3,200 relay team of Harrison, Joey LaRoche, Asher Knox and Garrett Wallen (10:52).

Taking third were Micah Smith in the 800 (2:10.06), Jack Bahan in the 200 (24.09), Wallen in the 3,200 (11:04) and Taryn Bradley in the pole vault (9-0), while fourth-place finishes went to Dylan King in the 1,600 (4:50.49), Bradley in the 300 hurdles (49.0) and Joey Laroche in the high jump (5-4).
