Lady Chiefs fight off Raiders

Bellefontaine received a strong pitching performance from Averie Vigansky and a balanced hitting attack to beat visiting Benjamin Logan 6-3 in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game Friday.

The Chiefs are now 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the CBC. Ben Logan drops to 3-2, 1-2.

After two scoreless innings to start the game, Bellefontaine plated two runs in the bottom of the third, two in the fourth and two in the fifth to lead 6-0.

Ben Logan scored all three of its runs in the sixth.

Vigansky scattered six hits, struck out three, allowed two earned runs and did not walk a batter in getting the win.

Offensively, eight different players had hits for the Chiefs.

Rianna Fullerton went 2-4, Emma Crabtree had a double and two RBI, Addison Wical and Airiana Young both had triples and Aubrey Hudson had a double for the Chiefs.

Elliott Bailey was 2-3 with a double and Jillian Plikerd was 2-3 with a double and an RBI to spark Ben Logan.

Bellefontaine is back in action today at Wapakoneta, while the Raiders play at home Monday against Urbana.

Cougars blank Chiefs

Bellefontaine suffered a 14-0 five-inning loss to visiting Kenton Ridge on Thursday.
The Cougars scored six runs in the second inning, four in the third, two in the fourth and two in the fifth.

The Chiefs were limited to four hits. Kassi Prine was 2-2 to lead Bellefontaine.

Lakers fall to Wildcats, beat London

Indian Lake’s softball team suffered its first loss of the season with a 10-6 loss to visiting North Union on Thursday, but the Lakers bounced back with an 8-3 win over host London on Friday.

The Lakers are now 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the CBC.

In Thursday’s game against the Wildcats, the Wildcats led 6-5 after three innings and they added four runs in the fifth for a 10-5 lead. The Lakers tacked on a run in the sixth.

Madison Brentlinger went 2-4 with two doubles and two RBI to lead the IL offense.

Haylee Edwards was 2-4 and Porscha Davis added a triple.

In Friday’s game vs. the Red Raiders, London led 3-1 after two innings.

However, the Lakers scored four runs in the top of the third to lead 5-3.

Indian Lake added three insurance runs in the sixth.

Brentlinger earned the win in the pitching circle for the Lakers.

Offensively for the Lakers, Edwards was 2-4 with a double, Katie Roby was 2-4 with a double, Brentlinger was 2-3 with a double, Halle Roby went 2-4 with a double and two RBI, Davis had three RBI, Abigail Elliott went 3-4 with an RBI and Hannah Marlow had a double and two RBI.

The Lakers play at Lima Shawnee today.

Pirates top Lehman, Ridgemont

Riverside’s softball team picked up back-to-back wins by beating visiting Lehman Catholic 10-0 in five innings Thursday and defeating visiting Ridgemont 5-3 on Friday.

The Pirates are now 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the Three Rivers Conference.

In Thursday’s game, Alaina Snow fired a no-hitter for the Pirates. She struck out 12 of the 17 batters she faced.

Riley Dillon had a two-run home runs, Snow went 2-3 with an RBI and Taylor Dillon went 2-3 with two RBI to lead the Riverside offense.

In Friday’s win over Ridgemont, Jade Copas hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the score at 3-3.

Taylor Dillon had an RBI sacrifice fly in the sixth to put the Pirates ahead.

Riley Dillon struck out nine in four innings for the Pirates.

Snow pitched the final three innings and struck out five.

Riverside travels to Triad today for a doubleheader.

Tigers fall to Rams

West Liberty-Salem fell to visiting Greeneview 9-5 in an Ohio Heritage Conference softball game Friday.

The Tigers are now 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the OHC. The Rams are 5-1, 5-0.

Greeneview jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and added a run in the third and three in the top of the fourth for an 8-0 lead.

The Tigers scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to make it 8-3.

Greeneview added a run in the sixth for a 9-3 lead.

WL-S scored two more runs in the seventh.

Brooklyn Wilcoxon went 2-4, Brittany Neer had two RBI and Whitney Strapp had a double to lead the Tigers at the plate.

WL-S is back in action Monday at Madison Plains.
