Joseph Burl Harvey of Columbus, Ohio died Friday, March 31st at the OSU Hospital of complications from leukemia.

He was born January 30th, 1944 in West Mansfield, Ohio to the late Emily Dolores

Harvey and Harry Burl Harvey. Also preceded in death by brother James Edward

Harvey.

Joe graduated from West Mansfield High School in 1962, joined the army and did two tours in Vietnam. When he finished his army duty in 1965, he went to The Ohio State University where he got a masters degree in Comprehensive Science |Education. Joe loved the sciences and retired from Dublin City Schools in 2008 where he taught physics and chemistry at Dublin Coffman High School. He also loved Amateur Radio, wood working and spent a lot of time working on the house and other properties he owned.

Joe and Marcia traveled extensively including Alaska, Hawaii, much of the rest of the U.S. They also traveled to the Galapagos Islands, South America, Mexico, Canada, Switzerland, England, Scotland Cuba and a Viking River Cruise in Russia. Joe and Marcia were active, taking bicycling trips through Colorodo, the Canadian Rockies, Michigan and New England as well as backpacking, hiking and caving.

Joe was a giving person, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, offering his support in any activity he was involved in and often donating money to those

who seemed to be in need.

Joe is survived by his wife, Marcia Stauffer Harvey, Brother Roger Wayne (Linda) 

Harvey, Nephew Dustin (Kim) Harvey, Nephew Chad (Katy) Harvey, Niece Heather Harvey, Niece Lora (Nikki Bisig) Harvey and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed!
