Josephina Gabriella Keykens, fondly known as “Josie,” 67, of Huntsville passed away unexpectedly March 31, 2023, at her residence. She was born on June 17, 1955 in Antwerp, Belgium, the daughter of the late Willy F. and Maria Blondina (Van Welt) Keykens.
She is survived by daughter, Blondina (Chris) Keykens-Robinson of Bellefontaine; three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Peyton and Triston; brother, Victor (Sheila) Keykens of Houston; stepmother, Ivolene Keykens of Lima; stepsister, Beth Slaven of Corbin, KY and surviving nephews and nieces, Matthew ( Megan) Lawson of Sidney, Adam Keykens of Corbin, Kentucky, Sarah (Eric) Thrush of Marysville, Emma Keykens of Houston, Jamie (Trenton) Lee of Lima, Jeremy Collins of Bellefontaine and Joe Collins of Indian Lake. Josephina was preceded in death by four uncles, Henrie, Alfonse, Victor and Emiel and three aunts, Josephine, Lisette and Joanna.
Ms. Keykens retired from being a cashier working at various jobs. Josephina was very artistic and gave very well handwritten Christmas and birthday cards to all her family. She enjoyed gardening and was a lover of animals especially cats and dogs. Josephina enjoyed watching movies and playing billiards in which she was a pool shark. She enjoyed in her spare time listening to Elvis Pressley. Josephina nickname was “Gabby” because she always loved sharing a meal, talking to her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be Friday April 7, at 3 p.m. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, with Pastor Cindy Porter officiating. Friends may visit from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
