Jackson “Jack” Taylor, 82, of Bellefontaine, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, March 18, 2023, with his wife beside him.
He was born in St. Paris, Ohio, on October 6, 1940, to the late Earl and Alice (Bowers) Taylor. Jack graduated from Quincy High School in 1958. Jack worked at Navistar in Springfield, Ohio, for over 30 years. He made great friends with Dave Jenkins, Chris Leiss, Cecil Allen, Roger Sullivan, and John Dickman, whom he kept in touch with through the years.
He didn’t always cuss or drink, but when he did he was watching Cleveland Browns football. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. Jack was a family man and loved spending time with his many grandchildren. He loved golf, and football. He will be remembered for his charm and his “one liners.”
Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father, a sister Jean Baker, his son (Tracy Dean Taylor) and his grandson (Chad Lucas Taylor).
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kay “Charlie” Lucas Taylor; they were married in East Liberty, Ohio, on January 21, 1961. Survived by his brother Dennis (Pat) Taylor of Virginia, Larry Baker of West Mansfield, Ohio; his two daughters Trann Porter of South Carolina, Tisha (Jon Armstrong) Sullivan of Ohio, and a daughter-in-law Lisa Taylor of Florida; seven grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Taylor of Georgia, James Newman of Florida, Andrew Newman of Florida, Stefan Porter of Ohio, Paige Porter (Daniel) of Ohio, Kassidi Sullivan (Heath) of Ohio, Aidan Sullivan of Ohio, Catherine Armstrong of Ohio. He has 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and one on the way in April. Jack had a special bond with his brother-in-law Jim DearWester, and his golf partner Mike Sullivan.
