George Dallas “Bud” Lennon 91, of Bellefontaine passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, in Bradenton Florida at his home surrounded by the ones he loved. To all his many friends he was known as Sarge.
He was born on June 23, 1931 in Bradenton, Florida, the son of Rufus and Bertha Lennon. He was the youngest of four siblings, Rufus Jr., and Lucille Lennon and Jaunita (Johnny) Walker
On October 12, 1962, George married the love of his life Jo Ann Carnes in Bradenton, Florida. They spent 61 years together raising a family and traveling. Jo Ann survives along with their two daughters, Kimberly Lennon and Kristy (Chuck) Feasel. Together they had five grandchildren. Dallas (Stephanie) Clary, Brandon Clary, Dustin Clary (fiance`Stacey Legge), Alexis (Wade) Hannon, and Allison (Matt) Gansheimer. Altogether they have 14 great grandchildren with one on the way.
George started his career in the United States Army in 1946. He served for 22 years. Some highlights of his career were he got to travel all over the world and fought in the Korean War. His most proud accomplishment was loading the Polaris Missile which was the first successful shot for the Navy in 1949 at Cape Canaveral Florida. George ranked E-8 at the end of his Army Career.
After serving our country he settled down in Bellefontaine and started another career at Navistar as a Union Stewart for 22 years, where he made many long lasting friends that he loved and respected.
George enjoyed traveling and attending various sporting events with his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He enjoyed sitting on the porch with many great neighbors in Bellefontaine and in Bradenton, Florida. George loved sitting on the beach soaking up the rays and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.
George was a loving Husband, Father, Grand Father and Great Grandfather. George was a giving person and made sure his family had everything they needed and wanted.
He was a legend to all who knew him and all his trust was in his almighty God. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home 5591 US Highway 68 South West Liberty 43357. Visitation will be from noon until time of service. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
