Owen Pummel won the 190-pound weight class to power Indian Lake’s boys wrestling team to a second-place finish in the Mad River division and a third-place overall effort at the Central Buckeye Conference meet Saturday.
Graham won the overall title with 320 points. Jonathan Alder was second overall and second in the Kenton Trail division with 251 points and the Lakers were next with 143 points.
Benjamin Logan finished sixth overall and third in the Mad River division with 99 points.
Bellefontaine was 11th overall and fifth in the KT division with 53.5 points.
In addition to Pummel’s title, the Lakers saw runner-up finishes from Czar Dickson (138) and Dylan Valerio (heavyweight).
Also for the Lakers, Keyshawn Blackwell (106) and Zander Davis (165) finished in third place, Tony Cummins (132) and Taylor Clem (175) finished in fourth and Jackson Young (150) was fifth.
Bellefontaine was led by fourth-place finishes from Jeffery Smith (113) and Zavier May (144). Jared Young (106) was fifth and Zane Tevis (126) was sixth.
Results for Ben Logan were not submitted.
The Lakers, Chiefs and Raiders will be back in action next Saturday in the sectional tournaments.
Martin leads Laker girls at WCH
Indian Lake’s girls wrestling team traveled to the Washington Court House Queen of the Jungle tournament on Saturday and the Lakers were led by 115-pound champion Reece Martin.
Tori Roby (170) finished in third place for the Lakers. Isabel Brunson (110) was 2-2 and Kiylee Haude (170) went 1-2).
The Lakers finished fifth as a team in the 29-team field.
Indian Lake will compete in the state qualification tournament March 5 in Marysville.
