Palmer Davis, 64, of Bellefontaine, was charged with menacing and disorderly conduct Sunday, Feb. 12, after he was reportedly yelling and threatening neighbors with a baseball bat.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department responded to a shared apartment building at 117 W. Brown Ave. in reference to the suspect brandishing the baseball bat and yelling at his neighbors.
When officers arrived they found the suspect at the bottom of a staircase holding the aluminum bat and yelling.
Witnesses reported that Davis is regularly confrontational and argumentative with others in the building. On this occasion, he was reportedly striking the floor and baseboards with the bat.
Officers also observed physical signs of intoxication on the suspect. He was arrested without incident and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Motorist lodged on warrants
Ricki Downing, 25, of Bellefontaine, was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants after a traffic stop that occurred around 2:15 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the area of east Chillicothe Avenue near Stanley Street. Officers on patrol observed a vehicle the suspect was driving traveling in the area of Columbus Avenue and Detroit Street without a functioning license plate light.
A traffic stop was initiated due to the equipment violation. Downing was unable to provide her license or proof of insurance, although officers report they were familiar with her from previous incidents.
She said she knew there were outstanding warrants for her warrest. Officers confirmed three warrants for failure to appear, and Downing was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
