Tralen James, 34, of Bellefontaine, was charged with possession of drugs and lodged in Logan County Jail following a traffic stop that occurred around 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, along eastbound U.S. Route 33 within the city limits.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department initiated the traffic stop because the temporary registration taped to the rear window of the suspect’s vehicle was not clearly visible.
Upon making contact with the driver and a female passenger, officers immediately detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The suspect also did not have a valid operator’s license, officers learned.
A search of the vehicle revealed multiple marijuana buds, as well as Hydrocodone pill capsules, a Schedule II substance. The suspect reportedly got the pills from his grandmother after a car accident.
He was charged with possession of a Schedule II drug, driving with an operator’s license and was lodged in jail.
