John also enjoyed crocheting, making many beautiful blankets for his family.

Born August 29, 1953 in Bellefontaine, he was the son of the late Ora Payne and Florence (Hardy) Payne-Eastman. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joe Payne; a sister, Jeanne Ann Bauman; a brother, Kenny Payne and a grandchild.

He is survived by his daughters, Carrie (Kenny) Dolan and Maggie (Jerry) Birt, both of Bellefontaine; a son, John Payne of Bellefontaine; 6 grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Shirley) Payne of Bellefontaine and Myron Payne of East Liberty; sisters, Peg (Steve) Ball and Sue Prater, both of Dayton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the VFW Post 1080 216 Orchard Ave. Bellefontaine. Those attending are kindly asked to bring a covered dish to share. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family and will take place at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of John.
