Eagles snare win from Tigers

Visiting Madison Plains fought off West Liberty-Salem 60-58 in an Ohio Heritage Conference boys basketball battle Friday night.

The Tigers are now 8-7 overall and 6-5 in the OHC. The Eagles improve to 9-6, 7-4.

WL-S was forced to fight from behind most of the night. The Tigers trailed 14-6 after one quarter and were down by six (29-23) at halftime.

Madison Plains maintained a six-point cushion (43-37) after three quarters of play.

In the final quarter, WL-S outscored the visitors 21-17. However, it was not quite enough as the Eagles held on for the two-point victory.

Taran Logwood powered the Tigers with 21 points. Matt Jones contributed 13 points, Brevin Louden had 11 and Carson Poppe chipped in six points.

Cameron Dennehy scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Eagles.

In the junior varsity game, the Tigers lost 41-30. Caleb Hershberger had 10 points and Isaiah Reames and J.J. Johnson added six each for WL-S.

The Tigers’ freshman squad won 29-11. Garrett Wallen had 13 points and Dylan King added seven for the Tigers.

WL-S is back in action tonight at home against Anna.
