Fast start propels Raiders past Warriors

BenjaminLogan Raiders-200Benjamin Logan’s girls basketball took an early lead Saturday against Northwestern and did not look back en route to a 36-25 victory in Central Buckeye Conference play.

The Raiders improve to 9-8 overall and 4-2 in the CBC, while the loss drops Northwestern to 6-9, 2-4.

Fast starts to begin both halves propelled the Raiders. Ben Logan grabbed a 10-3 lead after the first quarter.

The Raiders carried play in the second quarter as well, outscoring Northwestern 9-5 to take 19-8 lead into halftime.

Ben Logan put the game away for good in the third quarter. The Raiders held Northwestern to a single point, outscored them 12-1 in the quarter and took a 31-9 lead into the fourth quarter.

Northwestern was able to cut into the deficit in the final stanza, outscoring the Raiders 16-5 over the quarter. It wasn’t enough though, as the Raiders were able claimed the win.

Georgia Bates led the way for Ben Logan, scoring a game-high 14 points to go along with five steals. Kyndal Cronkleton added seven points and also grabbed six rebounds to help the Raiders to victory.

The Raiders are back in action Wednesday at North Union.
