Riverside’s boys basketball team dropped an overtime heartbreaker Friday to visiting Bethel 41-37 in a Three Rivers Conference contest.
The Pirates drop to 5-8 overall and 2-6 in league play. Bethel improves to 5-10, 2-6 with the win.
Bethel held Riverside off the scoreboard entirely in the first quarter en route to taking a 6-0 lead. The Pirates picked up the pace in the second quarter, outscoring Bethel 13-9 in the second stanza and pulling to within two points, 15-13 at halftime.
Riverside continued to chip away in the second half, outscoring Bethel 10-9 in the third quarter to make the score 24-23 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Pirates were able to erase the deficit in the final quarter of play, but could not pull ahead at the end of regulation and the score was 33-33 heading into overtime.
Riverside was unable to carry that second-half momentum into the overtime as Bethel outscored the Pirates 8-4 in the extra period to claim the victory.
Kaleb Schindewolf led the Pirates with a game-high 20 points in addition to six rebounds. Myles flatfoot recorded seven points, adding three assists and two steals. Ayden Clary netted four points and added seven rebounds.
The Pirates lost the JV game, 42-35. Nate Copas scored 10 points and added nine rebounds, Dylan Burchett added seven points and seven rebounds and Damien Smith chipped in six points and six rebounds.
The Pirates fell in the freshman, 43-31. Hayden Sanford scored 10 points and added two steals. Houston Anderson and Camden Shoe netted six points.
