Judy (Hoverman) Mowery was born Oct. 17, 1943, in Lima, Ohio to Eugene & Fern (Lockwood)

Hoverman and died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023.

She attended Indian Lake School and graduated in 1961. In 1971, she married Les Mowery, who died in 1990.

Survivors include Julia Mowery of Joseph, OR; step-daughter Velinda (Mowery) Primus of Valley Center, CA; step-son David Mowery of Belle Center, OH; and companion David Stiles of Cridersville, OH.

Also surviving are her brother Larry (& Mary Lou) Hoverman of Lakeview, OH; sister Arlene (& Keith) Klauer of Russells Point, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In her earlier years, Judy worked at Elder’s Restaurant and Lakeview Hardware. She and Les owned and

operated Our Place restaurant in New Hampshire. Also, after moving back from Florida she sold

Tupperware for 15 years, was an Allen County Homemaker Helper, and an elderly care-giver. She was

knowledgeable in many subjects and excelled in her sales positions of many years with both Wolohan and

Crouse Lumber.

She liked gardening both flowers and vegetables, canning her produce, and living in the country. Her

prolific gardening, baking talents, and collected antiques gained her more than a few ribbons at the Auglaize County Fair. Judy’s caring spirit also motivated her to help others by donating over 15 gallons of blood to the Red Cross over the years.

Judy was an adventurous soul and was impelled to try many things, including bungee-jumping, para-sailing, white-water rafting. Her curiosity drove her to make various trips around the United States and overseas.

For 28 years she, her sister and friends took fall hiking trips in the Smoky Mountains. Friendships forged in

high school were maintained with monthly breakfasts shared at AmVets in Lakeview along with monthly

lunch outings with “The Old Girls” group.

Judy attended Indian Lake Nazarene, Full Gospel of Lima, and 19 years at Harvest Baptist where she was a

member of a Bible study group.

Friends & Family will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Harvest Baptist Church, 1301 Navajo Trail, Wapakoneta, OH. Services will be held immediately after with Pastor Tony officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to either WTGN radio or Lima Rescue Mission.
