BellefontainePolice Patch-200Terry Florence, 54, of Columbus, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia following a 9:04 p.m. incident Thursday, Jan. 12, at Love’s Travel Shop, 2001 State Route 540.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to the travel plaza after store employees reported the suspect entered the store and was acting belligerent, demanding access to a bathroom and $2 in gas at a pump.

Upon their arrival, officers made contact with the suspect and observed signs of impairment, including slurred speech and the odor of alcohol coming from her person.

Florence was argumentative and confrontational with officers, according to a report.
Police observed an open container of gin in a front cup holder and a glass “crack pipe” in plain view in the rear of the vehicle.

The suspect refused a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested and lodged in Logan County Jail. At the jail, she reportedly was uncooperative with corrections officers and had to be placed in a restraint chair. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
