Nancy Halterman, age 85, of Saint Paris, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, Springfield Ohio. Born on July 27, 1937, Nancy was a daughter of the late Kent and Dorothy (Griffith) Atha.

Nancy married Dale R. Halterman on July 24, 1960, and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2019. Nancy’s children include Brenda and Rev.Thomas Shaw of Tacoma, WA and Dr. Richard and Elena Halterman of Boulder, CO. Three grandchildren, Hope Shaw of Tacoma, WA and Siena and Luca Halterman of Boulder, CO, also survive her. 

In addition to her parents and husband, her sister, Pat Williams, preceded her in death.

Nancy was a graduate of West Liberty High School and a member of the Urbana Church of the Nazarene. She was filled with a compassionate maternal spirit, humor, humility, and a strong work ethic. As a young adult, she worked at an orphanage in inner city Washington DC. She volunteered her service in schools, church, and nursing homes. She dedicated herself to raising her own family, and then later, to lending her time and guidance to many children in her neighborhood. 

She was a spirited Buckeye football, Duke basketball, and Cincinnati sports fan. She impacted many lives, and she will be greatly missed.

A reception to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held from 11am to 2 p.m. January 21 at The Woodruff Farm, 3143 US HWY 36, Urbana, Ohio.
