Nikita M. Herod, 34, and David A. Easterday, 35, both of Marion, each were arrested relating to an incident Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Transportation Research Center, 10820 State Route 347, East Liberty.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to TRC about 9:55 a.m. on a report of a man and a woman trespassing on the property. Employees stated that the pair weren’t necessarily uncooperative, but seemed “out of it.”
Herod and Easterday claimed they had walked to the property after being let go from their previous employer nearby, mentioning that they had been sleeping in a wooded area. During the conversation, deputies said the defendants were continuously nodding off and slurring their words.
Deputies were also informed by witness who observed Easterday attempt to conceal an item by pushing it down into the mud outside. A hypodermic needle was recovered from that location.
Deputies said Herod initially provided them with false aliases. She was charged with falsification and criminal trespass, and Easterday was charged with a felony count of tampering with evidence, with the consideration of a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass as well.
Both defendants were placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.

Jorge E. Clark, 58, of 722 W. Auburn Ave., Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs relating to a traffic stop Saturday, Jan. 7.
Deputies on patrol in the area of eastbound U.S. Route 33 near Township Road 221 observed a vehicle weaving in traffic and noticed several marked lanes violations as the vehicle exited U.S. 33 onto the County Road 130.
The vehicle turned southbound onto C.R. 130, and deputies said the marked lane violations continued. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the area of Township Road 57, but deputies said the driver did not stop for about 1.5 miles, near Township Road 218.
While speaking with Clark, deputies observed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage and said he displayed signs of intoxication.
Clark told deputies he had consumed three beers before driving, and field sobriety tests were administered. He was transported to the jail, where he submitted to a urine test, with results pending. Corrections officers also located marijuana cigarettes on his person.
The defendant was issued a summons for possession of marijuana, and was cited for marked lanes violations, driving under non-compliance suspension, failure to reinstate and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
