Raymond “Ray” L. Cloninger, 76, of Bellefontaine passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center.
Ray was born August 26, 1946, in Bellefontaine to the late Donald Edward and Emma L. (Jackson) Cloninger.
Ray was born to the late Donald and Emma (Jackson) Cloninger. He is survived by his wife & best friend of 37 years Marcia Cloninger and Grandson Jesse Bickham (mini Ray). Raymond has 6 daughters Sabrina (decd), Tabitha (Jim) Crace, Lisa (Kerry) Shaw, Teresa (JP) Davis, Mary Kirstein, and Rae (Tony) Stamm. He also has 11 grandchildren Breann B (decd), Amanda M (Johnney), Shenandoah C (Cody), Jesse B, Cody C, Nick B (Reana), Skyler S (decd), Anthony S, Lela K, Jordan C, Tyrell A. Two of his granddaughters preceded him in death Breann B, and Skyler S. Raymond has 9 great grandchildren, 4 living sisters, and 2 brothers. He has many nieces and nephews, plus great nieces, and nephews. Preceding in death was his parents, daughter, 2 granddaughters, 1 brother and 3 sisters.
Ray graduated from DeGraff, and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy for 4 years on USS Sanctuary as a Welder, and achieved an E4 rank upon completion. Raymond was a friend to many and knew no stranger. He was a husband, dad, and a grandpa. Ray loved his family, his Harley Davidson, animals, gardening and cooking yummy food. Ray wanted to make sure his daughters, and grandchildren knew how to work on auto’s and be independent. Ray had a soft smile, and a caring heart. Raymond wanted everyone to love, be kind and stick together as a family always. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to get to know him.
Ray’s funeral will be Monday, January 9, at 1 p.m. at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home, 5591 US-68, West Liberty, OH 43357. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Greenwood Union Cemetery Following the service.
In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations be made to the family to assist in final expenses and funeral expenses.
