Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department responded Tuesday, Jan. 3, to an armed robbery call on the city’s south side.
They met with the female victim at 5:10 a.m. and she claimed a man armed with a gun entered her unlocked residence in a manufactured home community at 501 Gunntown Road around 4 a.m. and demanded money.
She told officers she handed over her purse and the suspect fled out the front door to a dark colored sedan.
Incident reports do not indicate why she waited an hour to report the incident.
Drivers cited in crashes
Stacy M. Yelton, 34, of Bellefontaine, was issued a traffic citation for running a red light after a 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, crash at Sandusky Avenue and Madriver Street.
Officers report she was eastbound in a sport utility vehicle and failed to stop for a red light. Her SUV was struck by a northbound van operated by Carl L. Koppenhaver, 58, of Bellefontaine.
Damage was heavy to the vehicles.
Neither driver nor three children in the Koppenhaver van reported injuries.
• Kaylon J. Koehler, 18, of Belle Center, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead after the northbound van she was driving hit the rear of an SUV around 4:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, at Madriver and Columbus Avenue.
Damage was moderate to the van and the SUV operated by Rachel A. Engle, 52, of Bellefontaine. No injuries were reported.
• Officers issued a citation for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead to Mary A. Gulasa, 40, of West Mansfield, after a 9:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, crash at Sandusky and Madriver.
She was northbound in an SUV which hit the rear of a stopped van operated by Fredy E. Hernandez, 51, of Bellefontaine.
Damage was moderate.
Neither driver nor occupants of the vehicles reported injuries.
