West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team started out the new year with a 49-38 victory over host Greenon on Tuesday.
The Tigers are now 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the Ohio Heritage Conference. The Knights drop to 2-8, 1-5.
WL-S fell down 12-11 after one quarter. The score was knotted at 18-18 at halftime.
Greenon held a 30-28 advantage after three quarters, but the Tigers used a 21-8 run in the final period to secure the win.
Matthew Jones led the Tigers with a game-high 19 points. Taran Logwood had 14 points and Carson Poppe added six points.
In the junior varsity game, the Tigers won 43-37. Caleb Hershberger had 14 points and Isaiah Reames scored 12 for WL-S.
In the freshman game, the Tigers won 28-25. Cade Stokes led the Tigers with 12 points.
WL-S is back in action Friday at home against Greeneview.
