7 local girls earn first-team CBC softball honors

Led by Indian Lake’s Madison Brentlinger, who was named the Mad River division player of the year, a group of seven local girls were selected to the first teams for the all-Central Buckeye Conference softball squad.

Indian Lake, which won the outright MR title, saw three players selected to the first team. Brentlinger was named first team at pitcher, Haylee Edwards in the infield and Katie Roby in the outfield.

Ben Logan had two first-team picks in the Mad River division. Kenzee Roseburrough was first-team infielder and Rhea Harner made it as an outfielder.

On the Kenton Trail division side, Bellefontaine’s Kassie Prine (infielder) and Alexza Clifton (outfielder) received first-team honors.

Second-team awards went to Indian Lake’s Halle Roby (infielder) and Porscha Davis (outfielder), Ben Logan’s Kyah Moore (at large selection), Jillian Plikerd (catcher) and Brooks Myers (infielder) and Bellefontaine’s Rianna Fullerton (infielder) and Emma Crabtree (outfielder).

Receiving special mention honors were Indian Lake’s Mackenzie Dixon, Ben Logan’s Elliott Bailey and Bellefontaine’s Averie Vigansky.

The sportsmanship award was presented to Indian Lake’s Hannah Marlow, Ben Logan’s Brooks Myers and Bellefontaine’s Aubrey Hudson.

The remaining first-team selections for the Mad River division were North Union’s Reese DeCamp (at large), Cagney Stewart (catcher), Laine Sparks (infielder), Jada Davis (infielder) and Jayla Kelley (outfielder).

Filling out the MR second team were Graham’s Marissa Pine (pitcher), North Union’s Ryleigh Rasey (infielder) and Kale Keigley (outfielder) and Northwestern’s Azzy Hammer (infielder) and Emily Taylor (outfielder).

The remaining special mention picks for the MR division were Graham’s Mackenzie Clark, North Union’s Kennedy Harrah, Northwestern’s Maddie Lawson and Urbana’s Morgan Boyd.

Kenton Ridge’s Kylie Ropp was the Kenton Trail division player of the year.

Along with the Chiefs’ Clifton and Prine and the Cougars’ Ropp, the KT first team consisted of Kenton Ridge’s Brenna Fyffe (catcher), Annie Fincham (infielder), Kirsten Wright (outfielder) and Kendall Massie (outfielder), Jonathan Alder’s Anna Engle (at large) and Riley Magginis (infielder), London’s Sam Webb (infielder).

The rest of the KT second team was made up by London’s Briana Peterman (pitcher), Lily Gravely (catcher), Josie Cover (infielder) and Gywn Wieber (outfielder), Jonathan Alder’s Natalie Neumeier (at large) and Kiersten Dolby (infielder), Kenton Ridge’s Kyleigh Schnitzler (infielder) and Dakota Timmons (outfielder) and Springfield Shawnee’s Maura Simpson (infielder).

The remaining KT special mention selections were Jonathan Alder’s Maggie McCoy, Kenton Ridge’s Jacee Hamilton, London’s Natalie Zabloudil, Shawnee’s Aleseah Trimmer and Tecumseh’s Amerie Matthews.
