7 ILHS students selected for Buckeye Girls’ State

Seven delegates have been selected to represent Indian Lake High School at the 2023 Buckeye Girls’ State on the campus of Bowling Green State University later this month.

ILHS students include: Autumn Miller, daughter of William Miller and Rose Reimer of Russells Point; KaiLea Miller, daughter of Jason and Kaitlyn Miller of Huntsville; Maggie Reese, daughter of Crystal Hornblower of Lakeview; Tori Roby, daughter of Joe and Amie Roby of Huntsville; Kayla Schwaderer, daughter of Jason and Abby Schwaderer of Huntsville; Kaitlyn Shaner, daughter of John and Nikki Shaner of Lewistown; and Gillian Taylor, daughter of Jason Taylor and Amy Buchaczenko of Lakeview

The 2023 Buckeye Girls’ State takes place from June 11-17. Buckeye Girls’ State is sponsored locally by the Charles Collins Ladies Auxiliary Post 381.

Participants must meet several qualifications. Candidates must be juniors in high school, interested in government and current events and have an above average scholastic standing. The young women must also demonstrate high moral character, possess strong leadership skills and have a desire for learning.

The purpose of Buckeye Girls’ State is to educate young women from Ohio in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of good citizenship and to learn about city, county and state government.
