Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report that three drivers and three passengers were transported Saturday evening, April 22, from a three-vehicle crash to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

Drivers Larry C. Myers, 56, of Belle Center, and Taya Outram, 18, of Bellefontaine, each were transported by Huntsville EMS to the hospital, while the third driver, Duane S. Collins, 43, of Bellefontaine, was transported by private vehicle to the hospital after the crash in the 4900 block of County Road 130.

A passenger in the Outram vehicle, Sergio T. Ramos, 19, of Bellefontaine, and a passenger in the Myers vehicle, Timothy J. Myers, 24, of Bellefontaine, along with a 1-year-child in one of the vehicles, each were transported by Bellefontaine EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital.

Related to the follow-up investigation after the crash, deputies said Larry C. Myers was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Outram reportedly was operating a southbound 2010 Ford Focus and attempted to pass Larry Myers’ southbound 2013 Honda Civic about 7:30 p.m., and did not see an approaching northbound 2007 Honda Accord operated by Collins.

Outram then attempted to cut in front of Myers’ vehicle, clipping the front of the Civic. Outram then went off the road to the west and into a field, coming a rest.

Myers then went left of center, and struck Collins’ vehicle head-on. Deputies said the Accord overturned onto its top and the Civic came to a rest in the northbound lane facing south.

All three vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene.

Outram was cited for improper passing and Collins was cited for driving under a 12-point suspension, deputies report.

While Larry Myers was being treated by EMS at the scene, deputies observed an odor of alcohol on his person. He told deputies that he had consumed several alcoholic beverages prior to driving.

At the hospital, deputies followed up with Larry Myers, and he submitted to a urine sample, with results pending.
