Four people were taken to area hospitals Thursday evening, June 13, after a single-vehicle crash on State Route 117 near State Route 273.

Sean Smith, 39, of Lima, was driving a 2015 Chrysler Town & Country southbound on S.R. 117 about 7:30 p.m. when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree, troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report.

Smith and a child passenger each sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were  flown by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital and Children’s Hospital, respectively, in Dayton.

Two other passengers in the Smith vehicle — Shantia Coles, 37, and another child passenger — also each sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by Indian Lake EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

All occupants were in properly adjusted child safety seats or wearing seatbelts, troopers said.

Troopers were also assisted by Huntsville Fire and EMS, Richland Township Fire Department and Tanner’s Towing.

Crash investigation continues.
