The 38th annual Band Spectacular was a huge success at Bellefontaine High School on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Bellefontaine and six other area bands — Riverside, North Union, Triad, Urbana, Indian Lake and Benjamin Logan — entertained a large crowd at AcuSport Stadium.

The Band Spectacular started as a band competition, then evolved into a fun performance opportunity for area bands. A variety of diverse music and styles were featured in each band’s performance.

This year, the “Pride of the Tribe” prepared two different halftime shows. Both of them were performed at the Band Spectacular.

BHS opened the event with its second show, “Icons,” featuring the music of The Rolling Stones, The Doors, and Hank Williams Jr.

Bellefontaine concluded the evening with its first show, “Radio Pop,” featuring the music of Miley Cyrus, The Weeknd and Meghan Trainor.

“This was my first introduction to the BHS Band Spectacular and I cannot say enough how proud I am of the students, parent volunteers, support staff, and everyone who made this event a success,” Bellefontaine Band Director Ken Hoffman said. “This event is a unique opportunity for our community to come together through music and enjoy the talents of Logan County music students.

“At the end of the night, we incorporated the new stadium lights to a thrilled crowd. I was especially taken aback by the visiting students using their cellphone lights as the Pride of the Tribe performed.”
