Lakers’ Nicol earns MR POY award
Indian Lake’s Caiden Nicol was awarded for his stellar play this season by being selected the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division player of the year.
A junior guard, Nicol has already surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career. He helped the Lakers to a co-Mad River division championship this winter.
Nicol was one of three local players to earn first-team all-CBC honors. His teammate Camdon Tuttle, a junior guard, also made the Mad River division first team.
On the Kenton Trail division side, Bellefontaine was represented on the first team by junior guard C.J. Wilson.
Second-team all-CBC honors went to Bellefontaine’s Tavien St. Clair and Benjamin Logan’s Ty Anspach, while special mention awards were given to Bellefontaine’s Riley Neer, Ben Logan’s Ethan Miller and Indian Lake’s Maddux Hall.
Receiving sportsmanship awards were Bellefontaine’s Carter Snapp, Ben Logan’s Jonas Hoffman and Indian Lake’s Lane Tucci.
Along with Nicol and Tuttle, the Mad River division first team consisted of Graham’s Ben Sells, North Union’s Max Parish and Urbana’s Will Donahoe and Jonathan Hildebrand.
Anspach was joined on the MR second team by Graham’s Bode McGuire, North Union’s Miles Hall, Northwestern’s Caleb Bailey and Urbana’s Aiden Bradshaw and Rayvon Rogan.
Rounding out the special mention list on the MR side were Graham’s Eli Hollingsworth, North Union’s Nolan Draper, Northwestern’s Dylan Ford and Urbana’s Landon Key.
For the Kenton Trail division, the player of the year award went to Springfield Shawnee’s Zion Crowe.
Crowe and Wilson were joined on the KT first team by Jonathan Alder’s Peyton Heiss, Kenton Ridge’s Logan Fyffe, London’s Zach Jones and Tecumseh’s Matt Linger.
The KT second team was filled out by Jonathan Alder’s Carter Harrington, Kenton Ridge’s Cayne Rogan, London’s Brady Carter, Shawnee’s Darian Dixon and Tecumseh’s Caden Harrod-Allen.
The rest of the KT special mention list was made up by Jonathan Alder’s Will Jackson, Kenton Ridge’s Canya Rogan, London’s Kobi Payne, Tecumseh’s Chase Stafford and Shawnee’s Cody Siemon.
