Man arrested following domestic dispute

Donte Stenson, 33, of Bellefontaine, was arrested on multiple charges following a domestic violence incident reported shortly after 1 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 16, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.

Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of north Main Street. Upon arrival officers observed a man and a woman on the floor of the home, with the woman having sustained swelling and bruising above her left eye.

The victim reported that Stenson had physically assaulted her multiple times during an argument over food. Stenson had been staying with the victim and her son for the past two weeks, and he complained her son ate all the food in the house.

According to the victim, the argument began after Stenson discovered that her son had eaten all the ice cream from the freezer. Stenson became enraged, leading to a violent outburst. He reportedly destroyed household items, including emptying the refrigerator, overturning a table and knocking a television off a bedroom table.

Stenson reportedly wrestled the woman to the ground, ripped her shirt and dragged her by the hair around the kitchen. The victim attempted to call 911, but Stenson forcibly took the phone from her, officers were told.

Responding officers managed to apprehend Stenson, but he resisted arrest, refusing to enter the patrol car. In order to subdue him, officers used a taser twice.

Bellefontaine Fire and EMS transported the victim was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Stenson was charged with felonious assault and for disrupting public services and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
