Despite having 10 pages of recipients, organizers zipped through Friday night’s Logan County Junior Fair Award Ceremony in less than 30 minutes, which was the goal.

“We try to make it fast so everyone can get back to their animals,” Shelby Nicholl, The Ohio State University student intern at the Logan County extension office, explained.

Starting with projects sponsored by Logan County 4-H, the July 12 event recognized achievements in over 51 categories, as well as Skillathon winners, FFA recipients, coloring contest winners and the young people who took home first and second in the Shoe Box Float.

Many recipients were also named as Ohio State Fair delegates.

The ceremony ended by announcing the winner of the Outstanding 4-H Member Award, which went to Shyanne McClintick.

Nicholl described her as “a young lady who has shown her leadership ability through 4-H.” She also said McClintick, who served as the 2023 Logan County Fair queen, took part in many opportunities and projects as a 4-H member.

“These members have put countless hours into their projects,” Nicholl said, “and we are proud of each and every one of them.”
