2 transported from U.S. 68 crash

Nathan W. Cook, 37, of West Liberty, and Stephen M. Mabry, 50, of Springfield, each were transported by Macochee EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries sustained in a crash Saturday morning, Jan. 21.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Cook was operating a northbound 2017 Ford Fusion about 8:50 a.m. on U.S. Route 68 when he struck the rear of a northbound 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass operated by Mabry that stopped at the intersection of County Road 30 to make a left turn.

Cook was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead. Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene.

• Crystal M. Purtee, 42, of DeGraff, was cited for failure to control related to a non-injury crash during winter weather conditions Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Deputies report she was operating an eastbound 2018 Nissan Rogue in the 3400 block of County Road 10 about 7:50 a.m. when she went off the left side of the road, striking a traffic sign. Damage was heavy to the sport utility vehicle, which was towed from the scene. The driver was wearing her seat belt.
