For more than a decade, Business Professionals of America students at Riverside have earned invitations to compete at the National Leadership Conferences around the country.
This year, 43 Riverside students attended the BPA State Leadership Conference and continued their tradition of success. Twenty-four Riverside students have earned spots to attend the BPA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif., during April.

Also at the state conference, sophomore Carter Kreglow made school history as the youngest Riverside student to be elected as an executive officer for Ohio BPA when he was selected as the state parliamentarian.
“I am excited to see how I can help the Ohio Chapter of BPA improve for its members,” Carter said. “It’s really cool to be elected because I am from such a small school and most officers come from the larger career centers. It’s really awesome how I got here and what I can do to improve our chapter.”
In addition to team and individual contests, 19 student members received their Statesman Torch Awards, exemplifying high levels of leadership, service, cooperation, friendship, knowledge, and patriotism.
As the students prepare for the once-in-a-lifetime trip to California, the preparations continue not only for their contests, but also to raise funds. Ohio Hi-Point Career Center pays for registrations, transportation and room accommodations. The students are responsible for any food and excursions that they partake in while at the conference.
The chapter takes part in year-round fundraising. From selling donuts to serving as disc jockeys at school dances and conducting car washes, the students are always looking for ways to make money to help them experience adventure outside of the classroom.
