Indian Lake’s girls basketball team was dealt a heartbreaker Monday as host Sidney escaped with a 37-35 non-league win.
The Lakers slip to 2-2 on the season as the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-1.
A light scoring first quarter saw the two teams deadlocked at 4-4.
Indian Lake clipped Sidney in the second quarter 9-8 to carry a 13-12 lead into halftime.
The Yellow Jackets tied the game 24-24 at the end of the third quarter.
Sidney was able to edge Indian Lake 13-11 in the final period to get the win.
Kristen Young led the Lakers’ efforts with 10 points. Allison Kinney had seven points, while Bethany Golliday, Kayli Barlow, Kyleigh Huffer and Kaylee Shelton each had four points.
In junior varsity action, Indian Lake beat Sidney 30-12. Cheyenne Hill led the Lakers with 10 points and Stephanie Altstaetter and Meadow McCullough each had five points.
Indian Lake hosts Bellefontaine on Wednesday for a local matchup.
