William H. “Bill” Cooksey, 92, of Zanesfield, passed away at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at his son’s residence. He was born in Zanesfield, on Feb. 5, 1927 to the late Welcome Hobart and Martha Virginia (Dunaway) Cooksey.
On Aug. 31, 1948, in Covington, Kentucky, he married Mary Joan (Hertenstein) Cooksey, and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2002.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Cooksey; sons, Richard H. (Debbie) Cooksey, and Donald H. (Melodie) Cooksey, all of Zanesfield; grandchildren, Christina Leigh (Sam) Wallen, Andrea Lyn (Marcos) Peralta, Abigail Lynne Cooksey, and Dwayne Hobart (Ashley) Cooksey; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria J. (Donald B.) Henry; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was a 1945 graduate of Zanesfield High School. He served our country in the U.S. Army as a Military policeman. Bill was a lifetime dairy farmer, and loved everything about it. He loved being on his farmland, and in his early years he enjoyed going fishing. Bill enjoyed keeping up with baseball, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. He also enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Bengals.

Pastor Wayne Downing officiates a graveside service at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at the Zanesfield Cemetery.
