Virginia Mae Fergus, 99, of West Liberty, passed away at 3:40 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She was born in Shelby County, Ohio on October 12, 1924, a daughter of the late Carl E. Roby and Carrie Blanche (Strong) Roby.

Virginia is survived by her son, Gary (Marg) Fergus; a daughter-in-law, Jinny Fergus; four grandchildren, John (Dawn) Fergus, Jeff (Sarah Freeman) Fergus, Tina (Jeff) Keckler, and Scott (Amber) Fergus; seven great grandchildren, Haley Fergus, Lexi Fergus, Jordan Keith, Megan Keckler, Emily (Dean) Smith, Kayli Fergus, and Alivia Fergus; two great great grandchildren, Hadley Keckler, and Stella Keith; a brother, Orville Roby; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Doug Fergus, who passed away December 27, 2005; and eight siblings, Lena Elliott, Paul Roby, Walter Roby, Harold Roby, Rosella “Sally” Oder, Marcella Clement, Viola “Minnie” Smith, and Phylis Hackett.

Virginia had worked as a line worker for Mid-States Container in DeGraff from 1961 to 1978. She had more recently worked as a greeter at Walmart for nearly 15 years. She was a Mary Rutan Hospital Guild Volunteer and member of the Hi-Point See Saws Square Dancing Group.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, November 2, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street in Bellefontaine, where Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate a funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio. Family and guests are encouraged to wear casual attire.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Virginia’s memory, to Cornerstone Church of Huntsville, 6611 Fruit Street, Huntsville, Ohio 43324 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
