Triad’s late surge turns back Pirates

Triad scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning en route to an 8-3 win over visiting Riverside in non-league baseball action Thursday.

The Cardinals even their record to 8-8 on the season as the Pirates fall to 4-12.

After two scoreless innings to start the game, Triad plate a run in the bottom of the third for a 1-0 advantage.

Riverside answered with three runs in the top of the fourth inning for a 3-1 lead.

The Cardinals scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 3-2 and then came up with their big fifth frame to take control.
