Miscues, turnovers and injury issues plagued Riverside’s girls basketball team on Thursday as visiting Lehman Catholic rolled to a 48-23 Northwest Central Conference win.
The Pirates drop to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the NWCC standings.
“We turned the ball over 32 times and only shot 30 times,” said RHS head coach Bryce Hodge. “It’s hard to win games when the ball is turned over more than we shoot. We also only had 11 rebounds.
“Lehman outplayed us, so credit to them. We gave them 20 free throws, which shows how poorly we played defensively. We have a lot to work on moving forward.”
Lehman took an 11-6 lead to end the opening quarter. The Cavaliers opened the game up in the second quarter with an 18-7 run, which gave them a 29-13 halftime lead.
The Cavs continued to pull away in the second half.
Kristin Schlumbohm led the Pirates with eight points, while Jade Copas, Alli Knight and Jorydn Marshall had four points apiece.
There was no junior varsity game.
Riverside plays again Monday at home against Cedarville in non-league action.
