Ridgemont Local Schools Board of Education is seeking an additional member to fill a board vacancy, with applications due by 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, members reported at their Thursday evening meeting.
During the recent election, three board seats were open, and only two positions were filled. This opening means the Ridgemont Board of Education will now appoint a member to fill the vacancy.
The board will accept letters of application from interested individuals with qualifications for the vacancy on the board. Applicants must submit a letter of interest, addressed to the Ridgemont Board of Education President, and filed with the Treasurer, Melissa Pollom, in person, by e-mail, or received by mail.
Letters can be addressed as follows: Ridgemont Board of Education President; Melissa Pollom, Treasurer; 560 West Taylor St., Mt. Victory OH, 43340; or e-mailed to [email protected].
A special board meeting will be conducted Jan. 23 to interview candidates.
Also at the meeting, school officials honored board of education members for School Board Recognition Month.
“We are fortunate to have dedicated individuals who are willing to take the time to advocate for our students,” Superintendent Sally Henrick said in a release. “School board members need to be knowledgeable about many complex education, social, financial and policy issues along with what is best for our community.
“On behalf of the Ridgemont staff, students, and community, I want to thank our Board Members of Ridgemont Local Schools. Please join me in thanking, Eric Hill, Corey Ledley, Charlie McCullough and Paige Wallace for leading our children/students to success with a solid education foundation.”
In organizational matters for 2020, the board elected Corey Ledley as president and Charlie McCullough as vice president.
