A back-and-forth battle saw Ridgemont’s girls basketball team escape with a 58-52 win over visiting Triad on Monday in a local non-league game.
The Gophers bump their record to 4-11 as the Cardinals fall to 2-11.
Ridgemont controlled the first half, outscoring Triad 20-13 in the first quarter and 11-2 in the second quarter. That vaulted the Gophers to a 16-point advantage (31-15) at halftime.
Triad came storming back in the third quarter with a 24-9 scoring surge. That left the Cardinals trailing by just one point (40-39).
Ridgemont was able to pull away again in the fourth quarter with an 18-13 run.
Brooke Nelson sparked the Gopher attack with 15 points, Nadia Martion tallied 14 points, Jen Jordan had 10 points and Amanda Howland added nine points.
For the Cardinals, Frani LeVan piled up 23 points, Cati LeVan had 13 points and Olivia Babanova and Olivia Butz each chipped in six points.
Ridgemont travels to Lehman Catholic on Thursday, while Triad hosts Greeneview on Thursday.
