The Ohio Department of Transportation has proposed installation of a traffic roundabout at the intersection of State Route 47 and State Route 235 outside DeGraff.
A $1.7 million project has been proposed to begin in May, 2020, according to a presentation overview of next year’s proposed projects by crews from ODOT District 7, which encompasses Logan and seven other surrounding counties including Union, Auglaize and Shelby.
That particular intersection of state routes 47 and 235 was listed among the top 150 most dangerous intersections in the state of Ohio, according to a March list published by ODOT.
Gov. Mike DeWine has emphasized safety enhancements at dangerous intersections on state-maintained roadways as part of the benefit for raising the state’s gas tax, action that took effect over the summer. Upwards of an additional $50 million more annually will be dedicated to improving dangerous intersections, and ODOT plans to announce special projects in May to identify and allocate resources towards road safety improvement priorities.
