Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department at press time Friday were still on the lookout for a gold-colored Chevy Impala with a temporary Ohio license tag believed to have been involved in a suspected shoplifting complaint at JCPenney, 1710 S. Main St.

Store staff notified law enforcement that suspects took off from the store with a black bag filled with merchandise about 7:30 p.m.

Witnesses reported the suspect’s vehicle fled the scene southbound on U.S. Route 68.

Store staff reported to police that JCPenney management had alerted local associates to the vehicle matching that description, and believe it may have been involved in other suspected shoplifting incidents from other area JCPenney department stores.
