A mother was arrested and charged Thursday after her children were identified outside their residence unattended and underdressed for the weather.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched about 9:30 a.m. to 400 Lincoln Boulevard, Apt. 30, Russells Point, on a report of two small children — ages 3 and 4 — wandering alone outside, dressed only in diapers.
Debra Blount, 26, of that address, told officers she’d been cleaning, and that she believed her children were still inside the apartment.
Officers asked to see the children and the suspect refused. She was told the children were at a nearby residence. Blount was then advised she was being placed under arrest for child endangering.
The suspect attempted to flee to the rear of her residence. Officers soon apprehended Blount, but she fought and refused to comply with orders to place her hands behind her back.
She was eventually taken into custody and lodged in Logan County Jail, charged with two counts of child endangering and resisting arrest.
