ROBERSON |
Timothy Ray Roberson, 28, was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence and resisting arrest, officers of the Russells Point Police Department report.
Officers responded about 4:50 p.m. to the residence of 21-year-old Amanda Martin at 437 Westview St., Russells Point, after she called to report her boyfriend allegedly struck her several times. The call was disconnected before dispatchers could get additional information.
As officers arrived at the scene, a witness alerted them that the suspect went into the woods behind the home and was running toward U.S. Route 33.
While searching the woods, officers received a tip from a passerby that the suspect was hiding in tall grass near the flood plane. Officers responded to a second tip that a man matching Mr. Roberson’s description attempted to use the telephone at McDonald’s, 431 E. Main St., Russells Point.
The suspect left in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival at the restaurant.
Ms. Martin identified the suspect as Mr. Roberson and said he had taken her 1998 Ford minivan. The suspect reportedly lost control of the vehicle while leaving the the home and crashed into a parked Ford Focus owned by Tyler Dolan of Bellefontaine.
Officers observed the woman had minor facial injuries and damage to the home’s living room and front door.
About 5:30 p.m., officers located Ms. Martin’s minivan at Indian Head Roadhouse, 509 W. Main St., Russells Point. A witness told police the suspect pulled into the parking lot and left the area on foot.
Mr. Roberson was spotted trying to hide near the west side of the building. He fled as officers attempted to arrest him.
Officers chased Mr. Roberson from the rear of the business, through the Lind Street apartments and across State Route 366 before tasing the suspect after he ignored repeated commands to stop.
Roberson, who refused medical treatment by Indian Lake EMS, was taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
He also was charged with misdemeanor offenses of driving without a license, failure to control, leaving the scene of an accident, and fictitious registration.
The felony domestic violence charge stems from a previous domestic violence conviction.
Officers were assisted by the Washington Township Police Department and the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit.
