There was nothing that could stop Clay Jacobs and the Indian Lake offense in the first half Friday against host Benjamin Logan.
The Lakers raced out to a 35-0 lead at halftime and never looked back en route to a 49-13 win over the rival Raiders in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division football game.
A senior, Jacobs gave another dynamic performance. He completed 4-of-8 passes for 115 yards and had 225 rushing yards and five touchdowns on nine carries. The Lakers finished with 441 total yards.
The Lakers even their record at 4-4 overall. They are now 1-2 in the league. The Raiders fall to 2-6, 1-2.
Elijah Slagle broke free next for a 15-yard TD run with 4:39 left to play in the opening quarter. Jacobs added a 46-yard TD run with 27 seconds left in the period to lift Indian Lake to a 21-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Jacobs had touchdown runs of 6 and 55 yards to boost Indian Lake to a 35-0 halftime lead.
Jacobs scored his fifth touchdown in the third quarter on a 35-yard run with 2:28 left on the clock. That gave the Lakers a 42-0 cushion.
Indian Lake’s final touchdown came early in the fourth quarter. Backup quarterback Caleb Wurster fired a 20-yard touchdown pass to Caden Roberts with 10:25 left to play in the game. Rece Kimmel added the extra-point kick for a 49-0 score.
Ben Logan was able to get on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. Austin McGowen tossed a 37-yard TD pass to Alec Rodenberger with nine minutes left in the game. Connor Whitt added a 1-yard TD run for the Raiders with 21 seconds remaining.
In addition to Jacobs’ big game, Slagle finished with 66 rushing yards on 14 carries and Austin Parker had 78 receiving yards on one catch.
For the Raiders, Kaidin Whitrock had 52 receiving yards on three catches, Rodenberger had 42 receiving yards on two grabs, Whitt had 38 rushing yards on five carries and Kaidin Whitrock had 52 rushing yards on three carries.
Perkins finished with seven completions and 86 passing yards, while McGowen had three completions with 65 passing yards.
Both teams continue CBC Mad River division play on Friday. Indian Lake travels to Graham, while Ben Logan travels to Northwestern.
