Kelsey has career night in Pirates’ win over Lehman

Senior Landon Kelsey delivered the best game of his career as he fueled Riverside past visiting Lehman Catholic 65-60 in a Northwest Central Conference battle.
The Pirates are now 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the NWCC as the Cavaliers slip to 2-7, 1-2.
Kelsey had a huge night, leading the Pirates with a career-high 35 points to go with nine rebounds and four steals.
“It was nice to be back in the win column,” said RHS head coach Dean Sanford. “Tonight was an outstanding team effort. The kids came out ready to play. We’ve faced some adversity for about four games and now we’ve learned how to handle it and play with it.
Indian Lake handles Graham in 60-50 win
Indian Lake’s boys basketball team jumped on top of visiting Graham in the first half Friday and went on to lock up a 60-50 win in Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division action.
The Lakers even their record at 5-5 overall and are now 3-2 in the Mad River division. The Falcons drop to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in the Mad River division.
Graham took a 16-13 lead after the opening quarter, but was outscored by Indian Lake 16-10 in the second quarter. That put the Lakers on top 29-26 at halftime.
Warriors fend off Ben Logan 58-55

Visiting Northwestern fought off Benjamin Logan 58-55 in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division boys basketball game Friday night.
The Raiders fall to 5-7 overall and 1-4 in the Mad River division. Northwestern is now 4-8, 3-2.
Ben Logan received a combined 35 points from Grant Ricketts and Konner Caudill, but it was not enough as the Raiders dropped their fourth straight game.
The Raiders led 11-9 after the first quarter, but Northwestern moved in front in the second quarter to lead 28-23 at halftime.
The Warriors held a 42-37 lead after three quarters and held on in the final period to get the win.
Ricketts scored a game-high 18 points and Caudill had 17 points. Austin VanBuskirk chipped in 10 points.
Cardinals blitz Catholic Central for 58-43 victory
Triad’s boys basketball team dominated the middle quarters Friday to cruise past visiting Springfield Catholic Central 58-43 in an Ohio Heritage Conference game.
The Cardinals improve their record to 8-2 overall and 3-2 in the OHC, while the Irish fall to 3-6, 2-4.
Catholic Central led 11-8 after the first quarter, but Triad reeled off a 23-12 run in the second quarter to hold a 31-23 lead entering the break.
Triad continued to pull away in the third quarter with a 15-5 surge. That pushed the Cardinals’ lead out to an 18-point cushion at 46-28.
WL-Salem holds off late rally by M’burg, wins 68-64
West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team fended off a fourth-quarter rally by host Mechanicsburg and escaped with a 68-64 win in Ohio Heritage Conference play.
The Tigers have now won four straight and boost their record to 8-2 overall and 5-0 in the OHC. The Indians slip to 2-7, 1-6.
WL-Salem worked its way to a 20-17 lead by the end of the opening period. The Tigers outscored the Indians 16-7 in the second quarter to take a 36-24 advantage at halftime.
The Tigers looked like they had the game in hand at the end of the third quarter with a 52-36 lead, but the Indians made things interesting my outscoring the visitors 28-16 in the final period.
