Glenda Marie Ratleff, 54, of Bellefontaine, departed this world to be with the Lord at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Glenda was born in Pittsburgh on May 8, 1961, to Ola M. Ratleff, who survives in Bellefontaine, and the late Ralph David Ratleff. She was raised in Bellefontaine. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Dawn Renee Ratleff Roberts; and a brother, Ralph David Ratleff Jr.
Glenda is survived by two sons, Tyrone C. (Tricia) Coleman and Kody T. Roberts, and a daughter Kelsey A. Roberts, all of Bellefontaine; two grandsons, Tevin J. Burris and Takoda N. Coleman; two nieces, Shasta Roberts and Stephanie Roberts; and Quincy Owens of Kenton, whom she considered a son. She also leaves behind many cousins and friends who she considered to be the greatest people to ever enter her life.
Glenda attended First Friends Church and was strong in her faith, sharing God’s word whenever given the chance. Her church family played a very big part in her life. She was employed by Logan County Discovery Center for 20 years through 2015. Caring for other people’s children was so enjoyable to her — no matter what the challenge. She truly felt blessed to be able to do what she enjoyed and that was working and appreciating the faith of a child.
Glenda loved to laugh, she always found the humor in every situation. She did not believe in praying about something and stress about it; she would say “your faith isn’t really there. You got to do one or the other, but they don’t go together.” She loved taking long walks and writing poetry. Spending time with family was always on the top of the list.
Pastor Matt Sandlin officiates a funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at First Friends Church, Bellefontaine, with visitation two hours prior. Burial is in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Glenda had many places that are dear to her heart. Memorial contributions may be made to the Logan County Discovery Center in care of the Autism Group, 1973 W. State Route 47, Bellefontaine OH 43311; Ronald McDonald House of Choice; First Friends Church, 808 W. Columbus Ave. Bellefontaine OH 43311; and to the family for Kody and Kelsey Roberts’ schooling.
