West Liberty-Salem’s girls cross country team finished second in the Division III state cross country meet Saturday morning at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.
Minster won the Division III state title for the fourth year in a row. WL-S finished 10 points behind the state champs for the runner-up finish. Ft. Loramie was one point behind the Big Orange for third.
This is the highest finish ever for the Big Orange girls at the state cross country meet, with their previous best being third in 2011.
Megan Adams finished third overall in a time of 18:42.3 to lead the Big Orange. Katelyn Stapleton was 19th in 19:13.5, Grace Adams finished 30th in 19:30.5, Madison Bahan was 52nd in 20:08.6, Lydia Moell took 68th in 20:26.9, Mandilyn Weaver was 124th in 21:48.9 and Maggie Davis was 128th in 21:54.8.
Megan Adams, Katelyn Stapleton and Grace Adams earned all-Ohio honors for their top-30 finishes.

WLS BOYS FINISH 10th
The West Liberty-Salem boys team finished 10th in its first time competing at the Division II level in the state cross country meet.
The Big Orange improved on last year’s 13th-place finish in Division III.
Dylan Lauck led WL-S with a 16th-place finish to earn all-Ohio honors for the second straight year.
