Marching band one of less than 20 bands to advance to annual state contest
The “Pride of the Tribe” Bellefontaine High School marching band earned a “superior” rating at the Westerville North Band contest Saturday, Oct. 5, and qualified for the state marching band contest.
The band placed second in class A. The color guard also won “best color guard” in class A and was best overall of all 15 bands that competed.
“The show is really coming together nicely,” BHS band director Jeremy Karg said in a release.
“We’ve got a lot of cleaning to do before our next two contests, but are feeling really good about the progress of the band at this point in the year.
“We have some really awesome upperclassmen leaders and they are working hard to get their sections ready for state.”
The band has qualified for the state marching band competition five years in a row and last earned a “superior” rating in 2016.
The state contest is slated for 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Welcome Stadium at the University of Dayton. So far, 19 class A bands across Ohio have qualified for the contest.
