Ryan Pool, the anchor of the Bellefontaine offensive line over the last two seasons, was again recognized for his stellar play Tuesday.
A senior, Pool was named to the Division III all-Ohio special mention list for the second straight season.
“He has been a great player for us,” said Bellefontaine head coach Toby Smith. “He has all the intangibles you want in an offensive lineman. I am glad he was recognized for all of his hard work.”
The 6-4, 270-pound Pool was stout in both his pass and run blocking at his tackle spot. He helped pave the way for a Chieftain offense that cranked out 1,868 rushing yards.
“Ryan has the willingness to do the little things,” said Smith. “He is willing to be in the weight room all the time at 6 a.m. and he has the drive to be successful. He has things you just can’t teach.”
Smith hopes the younger players in the program are motivated by Pool’s success.
“Hopefully, they recognize what Ryan has done and follow suit,” said Smith.
The Chiefs went 6-4 this season.
