A hot start helped Benjamin Logan’s boys basketball put away Riverside 72-54 on Saturday in the consolation game of the Raiders’ Tip-Off Classic.
Ben Logan raced out to a 17-8 lead after first quarter and Riverside was never able to catch up.
The Raiders connected for 13 three-pointers.
“I was pretty happy with the fight that our guys showed,” said RHS head coach Seth Bodenmiller. “You have to give Ben Logan a lot of credit for the way they came out. They hit four three-pointers in the first quarter and we missed a ton of close ones at the rim.
“We had to try to find ways to dig ourselves out of that hole. Their lead went up as much as 20 in the second half, but we got it back to to four points twice. We just couldn’t put the pieces together for a long enough time.”
The Raiders led 39-30 at halftime and 57-46 after three periods.
Ben Logan outscored the Pirates 15-8 in the final quarter.
The Raiders saw four players score in double digits. Davontae Fahle led the team with 18 points, Keaghan Stahler had 16 points, Ethan Ricketts scored 15 points and Trey Allen added 11 points.
John Zumberger sparked the Pirates with 21 points and Wade Auflick had 18 points. Walker Whitaker chipped in with seven points.
Both teams are back in action Friday. Ben Logan travels to Indian Lake for Central Buckeye Conference action and Riverside hosts Ridgemont for Northwest Central Conference play.
