Cincinnati Zoo celebrates All-Star Game; gives animals cards

CINCINNATI (AP) — More than a dozen animals at the Cincinnati Zoo got their own baseball cards as the zoo rolled out its own lineup of animal all-stars in anticipation of Major League Baseball's upcoming All-Star Game.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports ( ) 14 animals were selected for digital baseball cards this weekend. The cards display heights, weights and walk-up songs, typically played as batters walk up to hit.

The zoo's all-star selections were based on the animals' biology. The zoo placed a cheetah in center field for its speed and chose a blind sea lion as an umpire.

Baseball-themed activities were also planned for elephants, painted dogs and lions to celebrate All-Star Game weekend.

The All-Star Game is scheduled to be played at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati on Tuesday.
